CLIENT: WRITERS AND READERS WEEK (STUDENT PROJECT)
DATE: 16.03.2007
DESCRIPTION: PROMOTIONAL POSTER ADVERTSING
WRITERS AND READERS WEEK.
This student typography project required the design of a promotional poster that would raise awareness of New Zealand Writers through Writers and Readers Week. It needed to be circulated to schools, bookshops, libraries and public spaces to both advertise as well as inform. Through the design of this poster I wanted to typographically illustrate the key ideas of alienation and unease that seemed to characterise the life of New Zealand writer Janet Frame. By blowing up and fragmenting the text, the poster's legibility is challenged creating a sense of unease and difficulty. This works to convey my idea but also to create a poster that immediately catches attention from a distance.
