February 2008 - 3 T-Shirt designs for The H Initiative promoting Mental Health Awareness Week 2008. The basic concept behind this set of designs was to juxtapose the text ‘Normal Is Overrated’ with abnormal or unusual imagery, with the intention of showing that the strange or unusual can also have its own unique beauty. The first design shows an impossible entanglement of chairs, the second a floating face encrusted with white geometric shapes, and the third two people on cluster of light bulbs. The choice of incorporating the text into the image adds to the weirdness of the designs also works as a decorative element. I wanted to make the viewer work a bit to decipher what the text says; this engages the viewer more and makes the image more memorable.
