DESCRIPTION: COFFEE TABLE BOOK LAYOUT.
The objective of this typography project was to examine the specific requirements of book design and apply typographic structures and hierarchy to an appropriate grid system. In addition the use of typography as a visual expression of meaning and concept has been explored. The brief asked to design a series of page spreads and prelim pages on a given subject and to explore the typographic principles of hierarchy, paragraphs, columns, grid, systems, leading, line length and rag. The subject of the book was the work of renowned New Zealand artist Ralph Hotere.
